Barbie's new line, called "Dream Besties," brings the storytelling to life with aspiring dolls that have goals and dreams to accomplish.
Beginning Tuesday through September, fans can watch music videos of the new Barbies on Apple Music or YouTube. The series, which shares the Barbies' stories, passions and dreams, will start with "Malibu" and "Brooklyn," two of the new Barbie dolls, according to a news release from the fashion doll company.
"At Barbie, our mission is to inspire and empower the next generation, and the Barbie Dream Besties are a vibrant, trendy testament to that commitment," Krista Berger, senior vice president of Barbie and global head of dolls at Mattel, said in a statement. "Developed specifically for older kids, Dream Besties encourages kids to embrace their individuality and share their unique talents with the world – from cooking to choreography to cosmetology and more.”
Here's what to know about Barbie's new Dream Besties.
Who are the Dream Besties?
Makeup Mogul
Name: Barbie "Malibu" Roberts
Age: 17 years old
Hometown: Willows, Wisconsin
Mattel describes Barbie "Malibu" Roberts as a "spirited" teen who earned her nickname after moving to California at the age of 8.
"Barbie always enjoys helping her friends look and feel their best so her passion to become a makeup artist came naturally," Mattel says.
With pressing powders, contour and lipstick in hand, Malibu plans to become the CEO of her own makeup brand.
Music and dance lover
Name: Barbie "Brooklyn" Roberts
Age: 17 years old
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts is a "dynamic" teenager who freely expresses herself through dance, Mattel says.
In the future, the fashion doll company says that Brooklyn plans to become a choreographer, with the help of her other hobbies of video editing and creative writing.
Mattel also adds that Brooklyn's friends recognize her for her motto, “You Are Loved” or “YAL.”
"She embodies self-love and self-recognition, encouraging others to embrace who they are," the company says.
Gamer girl
Name: Teresa Rivera
Age: 17 years old
Hometown: Malibu, California
Tech girlies, this Barbie is for you. Teresa Rivera is an "effortlessly cool" teenager with a passion for all things technology and hopes to own her own gaming company, Mattel says.
While she does not have a game controller in her hand, Brooklyn also loves to read and compete in gymnastics, and is "deeply connected" with her Mexican heritage, Mattel says.
Cooking Protegé
Name: Renee Chao
Age: 17 years old
Hometown: Malibu, California
Another Malibu doll is bringing the heat from the kitchen to your handheld device. Renee Chao is a "vibrant" teenager who dreams of hosting a food and travel show, according to Mattel.
Mattels says this doll is kicking off her dream with her food vlog, “sKATE” the channel combines her love of food and skateboarding with humor and authenticity with her slogan: “What’s cooking?”
Renee is known for her "charismatic and larger-than-life attitude," Mattel says. She uses her platform to promote trying something new and is inseparable from her pet guinea pig Pancake, Mattel says.

What is in the box?
Mattel says the following items are in each doll's box:
Malibu
Malibu comes with 11 different beauty-themed accessories, including a hairdryer, mirror, and lipstick. The doll also has long blonde wavy hair to match her fashion style.

Every choreographer needs a tablet, phone and boombox to practice the latest dance moves. Brooklyn comes with those items along with her long black hair that are styled in multiple ponytails with shiny highlight accents.
Teresa
This gamer girlie cannot beat the next level without these items. Included in Teresa’s box are headphones, a keyboard and a video game backpack. Teresa also has long hair with red bow hair clips in it.
Renee
With 11 accessories in her box Renee cannot make her favorite dishes without food. A pizza, pretzel and a laptop are some of the items she will need to make content for her vlog. Renee has long black hair with purple shiny highlights.

Each doll is priced at $19.99 and is meant for children aged 4 years old and up. The dolls can be purchased on Mattel Shop, Walmart, Amazon and Target, Mattel says.
